It's been too long...

Holy Moly!!! Where has the time gone, and why haven't I been blogging?????

So, the end of September was pretty busy (apparently)... as is the beginning of October. Here are a few highlights.. Every Monday night is a JV football game. Every Thursday night is English class at UAB. Ok.. so Tuesdays and Wednesdays have been the moments when John Berry and I can relax and watch tv... and Fridays are either class, football games, or trips that carry into the entire weekend.

Ok.. the last blog involved me mentioning that I was going to the orthodontist. Well I opted to NOT go for braces.. I had a wakeup call and realized that I had no desire to do that... and instead I would like to get veneers (just for fun).. and John Berry is NOT liking this idea. I mean it is quite expensive, but you only live once, right?!

One weekend since I blogged involved watching Kallie dominate in a cross-country race, which was followed by a nice fun Beall family experience at Buffalo Wild Wings while watching the Alabama game. And then the next weekend was an awesome girls weekend in Auburn with Steph and Amy. And this past weekend was probably one of the best weekends of my life....

So Friday night I went to the Gdale Elementary Festival to support Keri. I met Amy and Sallie there, and had fun watching Sallie run from one slide, ride, or booth to the next. So.. we stayed a little later than expected and ended up back at John and Amy's at 7. And then we left for the great state of Tennessee. We stopped in Cullman for dinner, where we ate at a little digup I found named Carlton's. It was wonderful, and gave both John and me the adequate pasta-induced carb coma that we needed for the big half marathon we would be running the next morning. We got to our hotel in Murfreesboro, TN, and much to our dismay there was a karaoke bar INSIDE THE HOTEL!!! It took all the willpower in the world, but somehow we avoided our favorite activity and made it to our room to get some rest, be it only 5 hours before our race would begin. We woke up at 5, got ready, and rode the shuttle with John Berry (our photographer) to the MTSU track, where the race would begin at 7. I had not trained properly, and I was practically dreading the race. I knew it would be a tough one, and I knew John would be able to run at a much quicker pace. The weather was awesome, and I had my country music running playlist ready. And the gun went off.... For about 6 miles, John and I ran together at about an 8:20 pace.. then I motioned for him to run on ahead, and I settled into a very comfortable pace that I knew would carry me easily to the end. I didn't have a watch on, so I had absolutely no idea what time I would finish in. I finished my last half in 2:02, so I planned to finish this one in 2:30. As I was rounding the last corner, I saw the clock, and my to my dismay I finished in 1:55. I couldn't believe I actually beat my last time!! It was exciting and awesome. And John finished in 1:48, which is incredible!! And then the day progressed... we went to Knoxville, visited the town, went to the Auburn/TN game, ate dinner, went to the hotel, and went to bed. Incredibly relaxing. Incredibly fun. The entire weekend was just awesome!!!

And here I am... it's homecoming week at GHS. So it's busy and fun... and last night I practically sliced the top of my thumb off while cutting potatoes for potato soup.. and today I got rear ended by a student who was texting... but you know, it's all ok. It's a great day. I can feel it. Life is good. And hopefully I can get more on top of this blogging thing!! Ok, the bell ran. Class is starting. And I'm the teacher. Goodbye.

A slice of life...

Hey everyone!! Ok so I haven't blogged in what seems like ages (it has been a little over a week but you know...) and to be honest, not a whole lot has happened...

John Berry and I have been working hard. I've been cooking again (a little). I ran with John on Saturday night, and the 8 miles truly kicked my butt. I'm having doubts and worries about the half-marathon on October 3rd, but who knows... My classes aren't so bad, but they are adding a bit of stress to the normal stress-free life I try to live. And while the entire world seemed to think that yearbook would officially put me under, it truly is my favorite part of every single day. So that's that...

Oh, and I'm reading Crazy Love. Everyone should read it. Seriously. Go buy it.

Oh and Lucy had this weird hacking cough, and JB and I had a freakout moment when we thought she had heartworms. But after a little vet visit this morning, we found out that she is healthy and happy and caught up on all her shots. So that's some good news on this Wednesday...

Today is a good day. I have an orthodontist appt today after school. Yes, I know. Only kids and teenagers are supposed to go to the orthodontist. But I have this crazy open bite, and I want to be able to bite down completely. You just don't understand. Eating a fajita and not being able to bite right through is seriously a challenge when you love Mexican food as much as I do. So, here's hoping that the dr will suggest invisalign. :) We'll see...

And speaking of Mexican food... John Berry and I are planning on going to church tonight then heading to Habaneros for dinner. Yum! Oh yeah, and I'm supposed to squeeze in a 4 mile run somewhere. Hmm.... Happy Wednesday!

Back to the grind...

Well... We're Home...

I love the beach. For our last trip of the summer, we were able to spend one full day soaking up the sun and the next two making memories with current friends and getting to see old ones. It was a great trip, full of good food, good times, and a lot of good laughter. It was great seeing people whom I haven't seen in years.

Meghan's wedding was gorgeous and very laid-back. The food was incredible, the colors were perfect, the weather was great... and the band was fantastic. Beach weddings are the way to go. I wouldn't change anything about mine, but I must admit- weddings at the beach are fun for everyone.

So now we are back to work.. John Berry feels sick. I don't feel great, but I don't think I'm sick. I think I'm just tired. So, that's all for today. It was a great Labor Day weekend, and now I need a week to relax and just relish in the fact that summer may be ending, but fall trips to Gatlinburg and the like are quickly approaching...

Oh and one more thing.. ROLL TIDE!!!

Here we go...

Today was a fantastic day. Let's review...
- Last night we had dinner at the Tavern with JB's parents, grandparents, and aunt. Then came home and watched Discovery ID on demand. My favorite!!!
- Today was a fantastic day. I have decided that I love being in charge of the yearbook. I swear they are the most hilarious kids at the whole school. Shout out to the Rendezvous staff!!! I know you guys are the only ones who check this blog anyway. 2 words.. "cut throat"
- I'm supposed to be packing right now for the beach... horrrayayayay!! ... but instead I'm blogging with one eye open about to fall asleep. No packing tonight...
- Dentist today.. where I watched the Wendy Williams Show... oh yes, that's right-- at my dentist's office, I am able to put on headphones, and watch tv while getting my teeth cleaned. Dr. Koch is awesome. However, I apparently need to floss more.
- Cheesecake Factory for JB's bday dinner... it wasn't my fav. But you know what... that doesn't matter... why? you ask...

BECAUSE IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS I WILL BE ON THE ROAD HEADING TO MY FAVORITE DESTINATION WITH MY FAVORITE PEOPLE

And in honor of the music that will be on repeat for the next 5 days...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN BERRY!!!!

Happy Birthday old man!! 3 years from 30.. wow... I love you, and I hope you are having a great day!! Ok.. and reminder to self- tell John Berry to check blog. We all know he won't check it on his own.

Yes Travis, it most certainly is a great day to be alive...

The Travis Tritt concert last night was spectacular. It was just him and his guitar.. and let me tell you, he's still got it!!

John and I of course were excited because we knew his songs, but the true test was whether John Berry and Amy would have fun. They were excited, but not insanely pumped like we were... and at the end of the night, they agreed that they did not want the concert to end. It was truly probably the best concert I've ever been to. If you are a Travis lover, you missed a good show.

We met at John and Amy's at about 7, and drove to the Birmingham Race Course to pick up our tickets that we had already ordered.. We ate a quick dinner at McDonalds and went straight to the BRC. Upon walkin in we were a little curious about what we had gotten ourselves into. We thought the concert would be small... the parking lot was packed. We thought it would take place outside.. instead it was in the big room but behind a black curtain. We weren't sure what the seating/standing situation would be... and we quickly saw that in this fairly small space there were rows and rows of chairs, along with a dance floor in front of a small stage. So we made the quick decision to start in the back of the dance floor and manouver our way to the front. From the picture, you can tell that we succeeded. Like I said.. the concert was awesome, and we had a blast! I promise you, that won't be the last time I'll be seen at the BRC. Wonderful night.

"I'm gonna be somebody someday..."

It's a perfect Saturday!!!

The weather is awesome. JB and I slept in. We ordered a 6 cheese Tuscan pizza from Papa John's... FANTASTIC!!

Now we are watching I Love You, Man.. it's hilarious. I love days like this....

And we are currently approximately 8 hours and 50 minutes from the Travis Tritt concert at the Birmingham Race Course. It is going to be insanely fun, and I promise to post a recap with pictures...

The only thing that could make this Saturday better is college football and buffalo chicken dip.. all of which is Right Around the CORNER!!!

Life is gooooood.

friday

Post #2 for the day... a few things...
- Pep rally got cancelled due to water on field. Instead we had a "spirit event" in front of the school that basically just consisted of 2 short pep rallies.. in the hot sun... crowded and lacking in school spirit...and we introduced Rocky the Rocket... interesting to say the least.
- I am in the computer lab at UAB. Dreading the fact that I am mere moments away from entering a Friday night classroom, where I will be sitting for 4 1/2 hours. I mean, Really??
- I need sleep.
- Currently considering taking off all of next week and just going to the beach early. If only.

Happy Friday...

Finally Friday...

Ohhhh.... it's FRIDAY!! A week from now we will be at the beach!!!! And John will be trying to convince me to wake up for a nice looong run. And I will resist. We'll see what happens..

It's gonna be a great weekend!!

The Byars clan, Cliff, and John Berry are attending the Hoover/Gdale game tonight, but sadly I'll be in class. John Berry is going to be working for me.. taking pics that we might could use in yearbook. What a wonderful husband! And actually, it isn't work for him. If you know John Berry, you probably know that he is OBSESSED with his nice new camera. He takes pictures constantly, doesn't matter what he is taking pics of. So if you see a creeper in a corner somewhere and a flash catches your eye... I'm just sayin... :) (And that is what he gets for not participating in OUR blog.)

Our first pep rally is today!! No one cares. But I'm excited! Ok.. well I have to finish getting ready for a nice fun day at GHS. Today is spirit day, meaning I'm supposed to wear maroon, gray, and white... the only thing I can find is a t-shirt that I stole from a former cheerleader.. and it has paint splatters and stains on it. Hmmm.... works for me!! Have a GREAT Friday!!!

Thursday!!

Someone tell me.. why am I in my room at 6:57 a.m. I have been here since 6:30 so that I could get ahead on some grading.. and instead I'm blogging. Obsession, meet Kristy. Kristy, Obsession. Nothing I'm too unfamiliar with. Ok.. John Berry is still asleep I'm sure.. snuggled up next to Lucy. And I'm listening to the rain pour on my trailer and trying to pretend like I have nothing to do... oh and I have class tonight at UAB. That I am just now remembering. And there was homework. Oh jeez. Ok goodbye for now blog.

Ok here we go...

Ok.. as you can probably assume, this is Kristy, and I will primarily be updating this thing.. that is, if it ever gets updated. haha. So life is super busy for us.. I'm crazy busy at the high school with being in charge of yearbook and the jv cheerleaders. I am just jotting down notes on a daily basis so I can remember the thousands of "little" tasks that I have to do each day. Football games have begun, so my social life on weeknights is pretty much done. John Berry is working for one of his best friends, Saxon, and he is so happy. We pretty much live our crazy lives at work, then spend evenings together eating hamburger helper and watching movies or some of our favorite television shows until we fall asleep. Pretty perfect if you ask me. We have to break up the monotony of the work week with fun weekends. These usually consist of hanging out at the Byars' house (or in the driveway sitting in a circle... I mean, with weather this nice, why not??). We have also been perfecting our karaoke skills at any place that will allow us to sing. Let's see.. what else is new?? Since I'm probably the only person who will ever read this, I will give myself a quick review of the exciting things going on...
-Keri is a rocket!! Yay!
-Lucy just learned the difficult trick of "speak." Took long enough.
-The Unit will reunite for what will prove to be a memorable beach trip next weekend..
-Travis Tritt at Bham Race Course this Saturday.. surely I'll have a blog to come about that.
-Ohh.. just remembered there is a half marathon coming up October 3.. I seriously need to be training for that.
- Speaking of running, I finally broke the 25 min 5k time.. at the midnight run. Cliff and Steph ran it too. John totally bailed on us for the beach. Boo.

Ok so that's my post for today... Note to self.. next blog must not be entirely about me.. there are 2 people that this blog is supposed to be about.. 3 if you count Lucy. Btw.. what brought on this blog obsession I now have?? Have you seen Julie & Julia? If you haven't, you should. And if you have.. just be glad I'm not blogging about the hamburger helper I'm about to cook. Love you all! (All?? Seriously... Umm... Love you kristy!)
