Easter

This pic is from Jack on his first Easter. He is wearing John Berry's first Easter outfit. Our little chunky monkey was a little big for this outfit, and I had to crop the picture so that the mommy police don't come arrest me for forcing my child's lower half to risk amputation so I could get a Kodak moment. Anywho, I got the picture just prior to Jack busting open a button. Guess this outfit won't be passed on to my grandchildren. Oh well. It was a memory, and Easter was fantastic. Knee socks, however, were a waste of a purchase. I could only torture Jack so much.

Mother's Day

This past Sunday was my very first Mother's Day!!  And it was great!  My gift from Jack and John Berry was a swing for the back porch, which John Berry put up for me on Saturday.  We will be spending a lot of slow afternoons on the back porch, I hope.  But the very best part of Mother's Day happened Sunday night.  For the first time ever Jack slept all the way through the night.  It was amazing.  Jack is such a fun little boy, and we are loving every moment with him.  People always say time flies so fast, and it does... but instead of mourning the time passing, I am embracing it and enjoying every single second.  Jack is pulling up to his knees very easily, and is very close to pulling up to standing.  Instead of crawling on hands and knees, Jack has a combination of "commando crawling," rolling, and spinning in circles to help him get where he needs to go.  I think we might completely bypass crawling and go straight to walking.  Jack inhales every item of food we put in front of him.  And he is alllll boy.  He can completely face-plant on a hardwood floor, and roll right over to try to get back up again.  John Berry are fairly certain that Jack will be the fearless kid who climbs trees and monkey bars without a second thought.  And that's a little scary.  Jack has officially starting saying, "Da da."  But it seems that everything is "Da da," so we don't know if he is calling John Berry "Daddy," or if he is just talking.  I know one thing.. I'm ready to hear "Mama."  We have been very fortunate that Jack is such a happy baby.  Not much upsets him, and I can't even imagine how he will be now that he is consistently getting a full night's sleep.  We'll see!!!  These past 9 1/2 months have been absolutely wonderful, and I just can't wait to see what else is in store with our little man.

Jack's 8 month bday!!

8 months ago today my sweet baby boy was born.  I was on a morphine drip and really didn't even know my own name... but he had arrived by this time, and my life was changed forever.  I love that boy!!  So.. the major event that has happened is that Jack is now eating table food.  This began because Jack moved up to the "crawler room" at school (however, he isn't quite crawling yet.. more like creeping), and his sweet teachers informed me that he was reaching into everyone's food trying to eat whatever they had on their plates (at that point, he was eating baby food and puffs.. apparently not filling enough), and I realized that I had been depriving him of all of the yummy goodness of real food.  So, we started that very night with green beans and Kraft mac n cheese... and he was in Heaven!!  So, now he pretty much eats anything we eat, just in mucchhhh smaller portions.  This makes restaurants about a million times easier.. not that we really frequent the hopping Birmingham restaurants all that often.  But when we do, our sweet boy is occupied with food instead of screaming from boredom.  Success!!!  Now, if we can just get the precious little one to sleep through the night.  How does one get her youngster to quit waking up every three hours on the dot as if he is a hungry newborn?? Surely the healthy, cheesy macaroni can hold him over so Mama can get ONE night's sleep.  8 months without a full night might start taking its toll.  But, as of now, all is good.  Caffeine does my body good, and Jack is healthy and happy.  Life is pretty darn fantastic in the Biddle house.  Hope yours is great too!

We had a day full of birthdays this past Sunday. After lunch with Nana and Granddaddy for Granddaddy's birthday, we went to Jasper for Aunt Kallie's 14th birthday. Here, Jack is with Papa listening to Uncle Cliff and Daddy bark. Jack thought it was so funny.

Busy Busy Busy

It has been a little while since I have last posted, and we have been busy.  Jack had a few rough weekends.  2 weekends ago he had his 6 mo shots.  He seemed fine as soon as they were over, and he was happy all evening.  We always schedule his shots on Friday just in case he doesn't feel well following them, but so far he's been great.  Ok... not this last time.  Around 9:00 he woke up, and John Berry and I looked at each other and knew immediately that it wasn't his normal cry.  And so began the weekend of screams.  He stayed up all night with a fever, and there wasn't much that would soothe him.  On top of that he had a small head cold that he already had going in to the shots... needless to say, it was a rough weekend, but we all survived!  Then we had a fun, happy week.  Then came this past Friday.  He had a good afternoon and evening, and then the same thing happened.  Only this time he was also pulling at his ear.  So Saturday morning we headed to see Jack's dr.  Our little man had a double ear infection.  We are finally past the pain and the possible overload of tylenol, and now he is just taking antibiotics.  I knew this ear infection day would probably come, but I hope it doesn't happen again anytime soon.  Also, Jack is sitting on his own all of the time now!!  So that's excitinig.  He is having his pictures made today, so I will post some as soon as I get them.  Hope you all have a great weekend.  This is going to be a busy one... Keri's bachelorette party, bridesmaid luncheon, and tea... all in one weekend.  And Jack is spending tomorrow night with Mimi and Papa.  Let's hope he makes it through the whole weekend with no sickness!!!

The GHS cheerleaders won their competition today!!! And after that, we had a full day of relaxation in the Biddle house! I love days like this.

back to school tomorrow. . .

Today was our last day out for the snow, but we had cheerleading practice today in preparation of a competition on Saturday. And Jack went with me, which was great. You can tell by the picture that Jack had so much fun!

snow day

John Berry had to go back to work today but Jack and I are still snowed in. It's only noon, and we've already had a great day! Eating, playing, and napping... It doesn't get any better than this! We hope you are having a great day too!! Happy Snow Day!

what a day...

Wow. Today has been a busy day! Jack decided that naps weren't exactly in order today. So instead of napping, we played a lot today, as you can see in the video. And then the winter storm began. In fear of losing power with no fireplace in our house, we packed up and came to John Berry's parents' house to spend the night. The picture is of Jack ready for the snow!! Tomorrow we will take that sweet boy outside and play in the snow for a little while! Have fun being snowed in with your families!!!

Jack's week

Jack has had a wonderful week!! He seems to really enjoy school! This morning he woke up really early, so as John Berry was driving him there, he was on the verge of a sleepy meltdown. But as soon as they got to the church and Jack saw where they were, he was as happy as he could be! So all is well in the Biddle house. I think we will devote this weekend to catching up on sleep. Jack loves to nap, which is great! He truly is his mama's boy! Have a great rest of the week!

Happy New Year!!
